Four Easy Makeup Tricks To A Younger Looking You!

Alana Mitchell, Licensed Esthetician, Day Spa Owner

1. Less Is More, use This Instead of That!.

When your complexion is overly covered, it is much more obvious than showing natural skin. Concealer can be used to hide dark spots around the eyes but should not be used as a fix-it all over your face. Too much concealer will ultimately make you appear older than you really are. Do not just use a concealer from the grocery store. Brands like CoverGirl or Olay may clog your pores.

Glo Concealer, Will Not Clog Pores!

Instead, try Glo Minerals Camouflage Oil Free Concealer.

By the way, these are the same methods I have used on myself countless times in the past. 2. Go Light With Foundation.

Applying a lightweight liquid foundation or a tinted moisturizer is your best bet for wrinkled skin or aging lines. Every morning I apply Lucrece’s Zinc Solar Protection SPF 30 in “tinted”. I love this product because my skin gains necessary hydration without having to use pore-clogging makeup. Avoid using pressed powders that stick to lines. Instead, use light liquid formulas. Liquid formula gives the skin the “glowing” look that makes you appear younger. For the best look, use a foundation brush to apply small dabs on your face OR a damp sponge. Keep a loose powder nearby to dust over your skin to set your foundation in place. Applying a setting powder will reduce lines from forming in your makeup. Try Youngblood's Setting Powder!

2. Show Off Your Eyes!

Curling your eyelashes and adding a highlighting shimmer shadow are two of the easiest ways to make your eyes look larger and younger. To achieve the best contrast, use a very black mascara like the Divaderme mascara to accentuate the whites of your eyes.

3. Don’t Be Afraid Of Lipstick!

Using a neutral rose/pink color on your lips and cheeks will lighten up your natural glow as well as flatter your overall skin tone. Make sure to choose a color that is just right for your skin tone. Alana uses La Bella Donna Natural Mineral Lipstick.

4. Keep Lip Liner In Place!

Let’s face it, as we get older, our lip line tends to become less noticeable. Lip liner products will help bring our natural lip line back out. If colored lip liners aren’t for you, tracing your lips with a clear lip liner will help your lipstick stay in place just as well as colored lip liners do. As a result, your lipstick is less likely to bleed and more likely to stand out! Even better, try using Model in a Bottle Lip Conditioning and Lipstick Sealer.
