Finding the Right Cleanser for Your Skin Type

When it comes to skincare, there is no "one-size-fits-all", and the same goes for your cleanser. Indeed, using the right cleanser can make a huge difference in the quality of your skin, and much like anything else, what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Why is this, you ask? Simple, because everyone's skin is different. Your best friend may be oily, while you may lean more dry. Which is why I want to talk about which cleansers work best for which skin types today!

Have Oily Skin?

Oily skin can be irritating, but there are many cleansers that can help! My favorite types include: gel cleansers, cleansing powders, and foam cleansers. All three of these are great for removing excess oils and cleansing deep without drying out the skin . These picks tend to work well for combo skin as well!

Expert Pick - HydroPeptide Cleansing Gel: This triple action formula uses foaming Peptides, Sebacic and Lactic Acids, abd Allantoin to cleanse, tone, and remove makeup from the skin.

Have Dry Skin?

Dry skin types should reach for cream cleansers and milk cleansers, as these tend to be the least stripping and most nourishing. If you still find creamy and milk cleansers to dry out your skin, look into cleansing oils! These are fabulous for ridding the skin of dirt, makeup, and oil while replenishing healthy oil to the skin.

Expert Pick - iS Clinical Creamy Cleanser: Ideal for even the most dry and sensitive of skin types, this creamy cleanser is deeply cleansing, moisturizing, and soothing for beautiful results.

Have Sensitive Skin?

When it comes to sensitive skin, it is important to do your research. Products that are formulated specifically for sensitive skin are great because they take a lot of the guesswork out of finding a cleanser. I am a huge fan of Bioelement's Sensitive Skin Cleanser. If your product doesn't specify if it is for sensitive skin or not, look at the ingredients: less is best. Reach for products that are minimalist: no artificial fragrances or harsh chemicals.

Have Acneic Skin?

While gel, powder, and foam cleansers can work great for this skin type as well, reaching for products that are specifically formulated for acneic skin will typically get you the best results. Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, Mandelic Acid, Glycolic Acid, and Retinol are typically good ingredients for clearing up your skin .

Expert Pick - Vivant Skin Care Mandelic Acid 3-in-1 Wash: this anti-acne cleanser uses Mandelic Acid, Green Tea Extract, Kiwi Fruit Extract, Honey Extract, Grape Seed Extract, and more to help deeply cleanse the skin while preventing future breakouts.

Have Aging Skin?

Rest assured: all cleansers should help you age gracefully. That being said, there are some cleansers that are designed to help prevent or reverse the signs of aging. A product's benefits can be specific or vague, covering the most common signs of aging, so it is important to research the products you are considering to learn what benefits they can bring you!

Expert Pick - Image Skincare the MAX Stem Cell Facial Cleanser: Free of acids, fillers, sulfates, and parabens, this nourishing cleanser uses plant extracts and plant stem cells to vitamins and minerals while protecting the skin from environmental damage.
