Health & Beauty Trends for 2015
2015 is in full swing, which means a host of new and improved health & beauty trends that are waiting to be enjoyed! Today I want to discuss some of my absolute favorites with you, from products, to rituals, to going organic, and more, these trends are sure to have you looking and feeling your very best in the New Year.
Invest In Your Skin & DIY – technology has seriously delivered in the beauty department, meaning you can now buy products that deliver spa quality results from the comfort of your own home. One of my absolute favorite at-home devices is my Clarisonic, which is wonderful for delivering a deep cleanse while removing my makeup at the end of the day. Other amazing products include: Tria Hair Removal Laser, Tria Age Defying Laser, Foreo Luna, PMD, NuFace, ReFa, and many more!
At Home Laser Hair Removal – I felt that this particular DIY product deserved its own spotlight. For years you have heard about women flocking to their dermatologists for laser hair removal. These procedures take multiple visits, and are very expensive, which is why I was SO excited when I finally got my hands on Tria’s Hair Removal System. This product allows you to do your laser hair removal treatments in the comfort of your own home – ditching the high price and inconvenience of repeated office visits. I have personally used this system and absolutely love the results!
Charcoal – Watch out juicing and coconut oil, charcoal is poised to take center stage as the next big beauty trend of 2015! I first learned about charcoal about 5 years ago when my son Malachi was a baby and having gastrointestinal problems. Studies have shown that charcoal attaches to toxins like a magnet, which helps to cleanse your body and skin of impurities. You can find charcoal in a variety of different products, from cold pressed juices, to supplements, to clay facial masks, cleansers, and more!
Organic Luxury – Many of the most well known “luxurious” brands on the market lack one thing: organic ingredients. In 2014, I was happy to hear from more people seeking high quality products that use safe and certified ingredients, and the trend only seems to be getting more popular as time goes on. As someone who is all about eliminating harmful chemicals from my health and beauty products, I am a huge advocate of natural and organic products.
- Pro Tip: While natural and organic products can be more expensive then your typical drugstore brands, it is important to note that they are oftentimes more effective and much less harmful for your skin. With a quality product, a little will go a very long way, meaning the costs should even out along the way.
Dry Shampoos – I remember the first time someone asked me about Dry Shampoo. I was 16 years old, working at one of my parents’ salons. My initial thought was “Why would you want to put powder in your hair? Why not just wash it?” This was especially comical, coming from a very oily teenager. I look back laugh at my young self every time I use my dry shampoo. I wash my hair only twice a week now, compared to my youthful, got-nothing-but-time days. While Dry Shampoos first made their emergence on the market a few years back, the better formulas are now starting to take center stage and make names for themselves. I spent much of 2014 testing out many different dry shampoos, and found a handful that were absolutely delightful to use! Three thank consistently ranked amongst my favorites include: Glo Essentials Re Energize Dry Shampoo, Alterna Bamboo Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo, and Kenra Dry Shampoo. These three seriously brought my hair back to life, absorbing excess oils and delivering a volume boost with a pleasant scent. Daily hair washing can be damaging to hair health, which is why I have taken up dry shampoos to get me through my no-wash days. If you struggle with dry, brittle, or damaged hair I highly recommend a haircut and a good dry shampoo to cut down on washing.
Hair Anti-Aging – Yes, you read correct! 2015 will be the year of anti-aging/UV protecting hair care, which means you can keep your hair looking youthful, healthy, and brilliant, longer. I am a huge fan of Alterna’s Caviar CC Cream, and look forward to seeing what anti-aging hair care products 2015 has in store!
