Anti-Aging & Anti-Acne Combined
Customer Name: Genny
Question: "I'm on the hunt for new skin care. I have always taken care of my skin leaving me with healthy skin, with the exception of breakouts on my chin that I cant get clear. Ill be turning 49 next week, so I need to consider aging in addition to clear skin. Plus I am not able to use Benzoyl Peroxide. Please e-mail me some product recommendations for me to look into? Looking for a treatment / moisturizer. Thank you." - Genny
Answer: Genny, thank you for your inquiry. You are certainly not alone in your skincare struggles, and you certainly have the right mind set when it comes to aging gracefully. Providing your skin with excellent skincare is certainly the best defense against aging and or troublesome skin. When considering you are concerned with anti-aging and incorporating non-Benzoyl Peroxide formulas I do want to advise that not all Benzoyls are made the same. Especially if they are spa brands. Benzolys that are made through a spa line are far more nourishing and effective than ones filled with nonsense bought at a drug store. Also some common reactions to Benzoyl are: redness, flakiness, and or tightness. This is because Benzoyl Peroxide stays active in your system and skin up to three days so there is no need to reapply more so than that if you have experienced these side effects.
The breakouts you are describing relate to the hormonal fluctuations that every woman may experience, at every age. The best way to get these breakouts under control are with a balance of several ingredients. The first being Salacylic. Salacylic is disinfecting and helps to reduce inflammation. Glycolic, which will lesson the life span of the breakout, kill bacteria, and effectively exfoliate dead skin cells, is another fabulous ingredient to look into. Lastly, I highly recommend considering Retinol. Retinol is probably one of the best ingredients you could use on your skin periodically to prevent acne and increase the overall health of your skin.
Here a few products that I am confident you would love:
Image Skincare Clear Cell Clarifying Pads - Salacylic will disinfect and actively disinfect any topical infections, keeping breakouts to a concentrated area. You may use this product all of the time or just when your breaking out.
Image Skincare Ageless Total Anti-Aging Serum - This is probably one of the best products I could recommend for hormonal breakouts AND preventative anti-aging. This product is packed with balanced Glycolic that is buffered with Lactic Acid to hydrate, and antioxidants to kill bacteria and strengthen the skin. You could use this product every night and it would not increase sensitivity to your skin what-so-ever.
Epicuren Brazilian Propolis Lotion - This light weight, omega0rich moisturizer is perfect for all skin types, but is most helpful for problematic skin. It helps to boost your skin's immunity and is filled with vitamins that help to effectively strengthen your skin's ability to fight off acne. I like to use this product during the AM and PM to help fight breakouts.
Image Skincare Ageless Retinol-A Creme - This product is the best product to use at night, about 3-5 times a week. It will keep your skin's texture smooth and refined, yet penetrate to the bottom layer of the skin to keep it from settling too long, which may bring exacerbate acne.
I firmly believe that with diligence and patience, you can definitely get your hormonal acne in balance, and continue to age gracefully!
Have a wonderful Birthday!
