How to Prevent Wrinkles

"In addition to a regular skin care regimen that combines hydration and exfoliation for your skin, I recommend a healthy, natural lifestyle! Not only should your skin care be as natural as possible, but you should take care of your skin from the inside-out by nourishing it with locally-grown, organic and Biodynamic fruits and vegetables."

- Boldijarre Koronczay, President of Eminence Organic Skin Care

Jana Ronert | Image Skincare | | Experts Share | Skincare Experts | Anti Aging | Anti-Aging | Preventing Wrinkles | Aging Beautifully | SkinCare by Alana“Protect your skin from sun damage. Always apply broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection before leaving the house in the morning…even if you plan to be inside all day. The sun is the #1 cause of premature aging in the skin. Protect your skin today to prevent the wrinkles of tomorrow.”

- Janna Ronert, CEO & Founder of Image Skincare

Rhonda Allison | Experts Share | Skincare Experts | Anti Aging | Anti-Aging | Preventing Wrinkles | Aging Beautifully | SkinCare by Alana“There has never been a better time to be in the skin care business. What we can do to prevent fine lines and wrinkles as well as, importantly, minimize and eliminate them makes aging one of our easiest skin types to support. With today’s sophisticated formulations, cutting edge ingredients such as Retinaldehyde, Synthe’ 6 Matryxl (4th generation peptides), and superior healthy sun protection plus perfected delivery systems, the youth revolution is on for skin! I get asked my age often – my reply is “whatever age we are is great but our skin doesn’t have to look it and each year gets better. So that said at 66, this is my best year ever!”

Jan Marini| Jan Marini Skin Care | Experts Share | Skincare Experts | Anti Aging | Anti-Aging | Preventing Wrinkles | Aging Beautifully | SkinCare by Alana“The competitive skin care landscape can be daunting. Even sophisticated consumers can be misled by all the seductive claims. It is easy to spend exorbitant amounts of money on products that don’t produce real results. The price tag should reflect the research, development, medical validation and genuine skin care benefits. First, identify your primary concern, such as adult acne, lines and wrinkles, large pores, etc. Then, look for products that address your specific goals. Finally, ask for data to support claims. For serious products, look for independent clinical evaluation via a physician study and/or a “white paper” with detailed substantiation.”

"Our skin is made of millions of amino acids that comprise of collagen and elastin proteins. When we give the skin back what it's made of, our skin uses those elements to repair itself. I've never seen more dramatic wrinkle and sun damage repair than when I've used products made of hydrolyzed collagen and elastin amino acids which are what our skin is made of and are small enough to reach the many layers of the epidermis, repairing it along the way. Epicuren Enzymes and Afterbath body lotions are among my favorite products, packed with high concentrations of actives and hydrolyzed collagen and elastin."

“To prevent wrinkles, I choose exfoliation, antioxidants (such as Vitamin C), hydration, and SPF, using these regularly and consistently. Monthly facials will keep skin in top shape. Treating from the inside out with good nutrition is also critical.”

- Lisa VanBockern, Owner/Founder of Skin Script Skin Care

When it comes to your skincare health, everyone knows the long-term goal is to be proactive. It is especially important to keep this mentality up prior to traveling. Hydrate, hydrate, and then, please hydrate! Add an extra step to your regiment and over-moisturize your entire body before getting onto a plane or train. Continue to apply products throughout your travel that prevent and continue to lock-in moisture. - i.e. If you have an overnight flight, apply a hydrating gel masque like the June Jacobs Mandarin Moisture Masque, which can be left on your skin overnight. Your skin's ability to heal slows down when traveling, as your skin is focused on adjusting to a new environment. When skin is dry, any kind of flaws including wrinkles look exaggerated. A hydrating gel masque will provide an instant boost of moisture leaving skin supple and smooth. Best tip: always have a travel-size spray mist or essence easily accessible - this allows you to hydrate over and over again without ever having to touch your skin. Make sure you love the way it smells too - nothing smells better than our Neroli Hydrating Mist!”

Sara Fulton | Vivant | Vivant Skin Care | | Experts Share | Skincare Experts | Anti Aging | Anti-Aging | Preventing Wrinkles | Aging Beautifully | SkinCare by AlanaAs we age, the skin loses elastin and collagen, resulting in unwanted wrinkles and sagging skin. Refusing to get older is not an option, so let’s focus on the things we can do to slow down the signs of aging: Start early on a skin care regimen that includes a wash, a toner, a corrector serum and a hydrator with SPF. Adapt your regimen to your skin’s needs; for example, as your skin acclimates, increase the strength of your products. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate to make it easier for corrective products to penetrate the skin. Limit exposure to UVA and UVB rays. Don’t use tanning beds. Don’t smoke. A well-balanced Mediterranean type diet is not only good for the skin, but overall health.”

– Sara Fulton, Founder of Vivant Skin Care

Dr. Ben Johnson | Osmosis Skin Care | | Experts Share | Skincare Experts | Anti Aging | Anti-Aging | Preventing Wrinkles | Aging Beautifully | SkinCare by AlanaDr. Ben Johnson, Founder of Osmosis Skin Care was kind enough to share 5 Steps to Prevent Aging:

  1. Use products that can deliver collagen stimulation to the dermis… this is done best with a liposomal delivery system (like Osmosis) since the average product has less than 5% penetration and liposomes create 600% more penetration.
  2. Repair DNA damage since it accumulates with age… it is best to look for a line that has clinical proof of DNA repair like Osmosis which resulted in 110% increase in elasticity amongst many other benefits..
  3. Use products that restore the skin’s lost nutrition/circulation… since your skin loses 1%
of its circulation every year over 25.
  4. Restore actual growth factors that are missing in the skin… since they are more permanent than peptides, Osmosis has a proprietary technology that delivers over 150 human growth factors with remarkable success.
  5. Use actual collagen stimulators… as it turns out, the only non-inflammatory retinol that stimulates collagen is retinaldehyde, and Osmosis’ patent-pending delivery system makes it the most potent collagen stimulator in the world.

My best advice for combatting wrinkles, or aging in general, comes in three steps. First, make sure you are living an overall healthy lifestyle! Make sure to get your body moving and active for at least 30 minutes a day (fellow mommies know how easy this is) and be sure to partake in a healthy, balanced diet. Second, consistent use of spa and medical products! I have been using eye cream since I was 20 years old, and I cannot recommend it enough. And last but certainly not least, sunscreen of course! Be sure to apply your SPF every morning, and to reapply every 2 hours!" Click here to view the Alana Mitchell Skincare line!

Bonus expert:

"I would always recommend looking at what you put into your body first. You’ll never be able to completely prevent wrinkles as this is an inevitable part of aging, but you can slow down their development by maintaining a healthy lifestyle – don’t smoke, don’t over-expose your skin to the sun, eat a balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, exercise and don’t overdo it on the alcohol. When it comes to skincare, use a good moisturiser, use sunblock when you’re in the sun and try out some botanical facial oils – they’re nature’s wonders."
