Transitioning Your Skincare From Summer to Fall
With the official start of fall less than a week away, it is time to start the transition from Summer Skincare to Fall. Yes, as the seasons turn so does our skincare needs, which is why it is always good to be aware of your skin, and what products work best for which seasons. I personally tend to go from oily in the summer, to combination in the fall, to dry in the winter. This calls for a totally different set of products to keep my skin balanced, beautiful, and glowing all year long! So, are you ready for it?
Mirror Mirror on The Wall, Help Me Go From Summer to Fall
Say Bye Bye to Drying Products - In the summertime I always lean towards products that help to "dry" my skin. This is to help control the excess oil my skin seems to produce. And I am not alone! Toss items that tend to dry out your skin, and welcome in more "balanced" and nourishing items to your collection. One of my favorite Fall moisturizers is Eminence Organics Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer. Not only does it deliver fabulous moisture to my skin, but it helps to lighten dark spots caused by the summer sun! Perfect for fall.
Invest in a Gentle Cleanser - This goes hand-in-hand with saying goodbye to drying products. Heavy-duty cleansers tend to strip the skin of oil, and while on those "hot and muggy" days this may be beneficial, it can cause dry and irritated skin during the colder, crisper days. Everybody's skin is different, but I personally enjoy Rhonda Allison's Pumpkin Cleanser. Not only does it smell deliciously like fall, it helps to mildly exfoliate the skin and cleanse away impurities gently to reveal beautiful, fresh, balanced skin.
Exfoliate - The first thing I like to do once summer begins is adopt an exfoliating routine. Like it or not, summertime does do a number on our skin - especially towards the end. I start out looking bronze and loving my skin but once fall rolls around I am noticing that my skin appears more "dull" than usual, which is where exfoliating comes into play! I can't get enough of Epicuren's Pumpkin Apple Spice Peel, which also smells perfect for the season while refining your skin back to it's former radiance and beauty. I am always amazing at what this decadent-smelling treat can do for my skin, both immediately and long term.
Don't Forget the SPF - This is quite possibly the biggest Fall faux pas of all my clients. DO NOT forget to slather on your favorite SPF simply because the weather has gotten cool and the clouds have gotten thicker. The clouds actually help to magnify the effects of the sun, so it is of extreme importance to wear your sunscreen, and reapply throughout the day. I absolutely love that there are formulations like Colorscience's Mineral Powder Brushes
All in all it is important to pay attention to your skin. As I mentioned before, everybody is different. As long as you know your skincare patterns you should be able to purchase your fall products accordingly!
