The Naughty and Nice of 2012
It is truly difficult to believe how fast this year has flown by! Birthdays and Holiday just seem to come one-after-another and finally, the holidays are upon us again! Which is why I wanted to discuss my naughty and nice products, practices, and ingredients to round out the year. So, have you been naughty or nice? Read on to find out!
My Naughty and Nice List: 2012
Naughty—Sleeping In Your Makeup—I am almost positive at least 99% of you will agree that your name has made it onto this naughty list at some point during the year. And while your skin may be forgiving on those occasional evenings, it is important to know that making this a regular occurrence is damaging to your skin. My suggestion? Make a relaxing routine of removing your makeup! I love love love using my Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System at night! It is like a face massage that completely removes my makeup. This is definitely in my top 5 of favorite products.
Nice—Vitamin A For Your Skin—This year I was so happy to partner up with Vivant Skin Care, who create some of the most effective, Vitamin A infused products on todays market. Vivant’s Vitamin A is different from similar products on the market in that it is small enough to penetrate the skin, but large enough so that peeling and redness can be controlled. This is something that I truly love, and feel comfortable recommending to all of my clients!
Naughty—Forgetting Your Sunscreen—I understand that we are nearing further and further away from the warm summer heat, but that does not mean the sun’s UV rays will simply go away. Forgetting to put on sunscreen can lead to a number of problems, including: wrinkles, sun spots, age spots, sunburn, and skin cancer. If you are worried about going pale this Fall/Winter season, try self-tanners such as TanTowel Tanning Mist. As for sun protection, I am a lover of Epicuren, Dermalogica, Coola, and Image Skincare.
Nice—Cute Shoes—Being a lover for fashion with function, it was only natural for me to team up with Lindsay Phillips to sell her adorably customizable shoes! From sandals, to flats, to heels, Lindsay Phillips shoes offer comfort, style, and multiple looks in a single pair! Her sandals feature interchangeable traps and snaps, while her shoes also offer a variety of different snaps. No more worrying about bringing along different pairs for different outfits. Simply switch out the snaps and head on your merry way! I love love love Lindsay Phillips.
Naughty—Blow Drying—I know so many people that blow dry and then curl or straighten their hair. If you are in a time crunch, don’t double up on the heat damage! Try my method instead. After towel drying your hair, break out the paper towels and start squeezing. Yes, paper towels are incredibly absorbent, and will help get your hair dryer much, much faster! This way you can cut the heat styling in half. If you want to add some extra protection for your hair, I recommend Agadir’s Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. It smells great, it feels great, and it will help keep your hair healthier for longer.
Nice—Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer—Deborah Lippmann's nail lacquers consist of vibrant, fashion savvy shades that are full of pigmentation and free from harmful chemicals such as toluene, and formaldehyde. Her shades are long-wearing and luxurious, without the negatives commonly associated with regular polish. It goes without saying that beautiful nails are always in, and with Deb Lippmann you can enjoy fabulous color without the harsh chemicals.
Naughty—Licking Your Lips For Moisture—I know, I know. It’s the easiest, cheapest, and fastest way of getting your lips wet. But did you know that your saliva is actually doing the opposite of what you’d like it to do? Enzymes that are meant to digest food are going to town on your skin, drying it out more than before. Remedy this with some of your favorite lip balm! I personally like my Epicuren Tea Tree Lip Balm.
Nice—Nourishing Your Lips With Color—Whoever said lip balm had to be bland was absolutely wrong. There are many brands out there that will give you is Youngblood Lipstick
