Quick & Easy Skincare for Moms On-The-Go

As a business owner, wife, mother, sister, daughter, and more, I know all about being a Mom On-The-Go. If there is one thing us busy ladies look for, it is a quick & efficient way of getting the job done right; and your skincare routine should be no exception! With mother's day fast approaching, I wanted to share some of my favorite Mom On-The-Go tips with you. Say goodbye to "I'll do it later" and welcome in my favorite quick-fixes for fabulous skin, year round!

Moms On-The-Go: We Can Do It Too

NARROW down your collection - one factor that may contribute to leaving your skincare regimen behind is having too much. People tend to become overwhelmed when the options are out of control, so here is my challenge to you: do some spring cleaning! Set aside your staple products for AM & PM and have them ready-to-go for your daily routine. My essentials include: a good cleanser, exfoliant, moisturizer, serum, eye cream, SPF, & my Clarisonic. Everyone's staples will vary, but narrow it down and set it up! This way you will go through and enjoy your AM/PM beauty routine in a methodical way.

EXFOLIATE your skin - okay, I cannot tell you how much of a difference this makes. Exfoliating your skin delivers both immediate and long term results; and as a bonus, it helps your other products absorb better. My one token of advice for exfoliating would be to read the directions! Over exfoliation can and will do more harm than good, so if you are looking to use something everyday, but something that is made for everyday use. Some of my favorite exfoliating products include: Epicuren’s Pumpkin Apple Spice Peel, Rhonda Allison’s Cherry Jubilee Enzyme, Image Skincare’s Ageless Total Resurfacing Masque, and Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant.

KNOW your skin type - everybody's skin is different, which means what works for your sister/friend/someone else may not work for you. If you are like me, your skin type changes with the seasons. If your skin stays the same year-round, then kudos to you, you are very lucky! Using the wrong products for your skin type will not give you the results you desire, and could even aggravate your skin . EMBRACE tinted moisturizers - I know maintaining a makeup routine can be difficult when you are crazy busy, but tinted moisturizers are fabulous because they almost always kill two birds with one stone. You get moisture for your skin, sheer coverage that typically has a more 'natural' look, and a lot of the times you will also get SPF protection. I always recommend picking a tinted moisturizer or BB Cream with SPF 15+ for extra-added sun protecting benefits.

CARRY your SPF - the absolute most neglected beauty practice my Beauty Mates have shared with me is not reapplying SPF throughout the day. I understand that a reapplication can make you feel heavy, greasy, or ruin your beautiful makeup. Which is why I want to share my absolute favorite solution: Colorescience's Sunforgettable Mineral Powder Brush SPF 50. This product utilizes a self-dispensing brush filled with broad spectrum SPF 50 level protection powder. You can choose your coverage and whether or not it is shiny or matte. I bring this product with me everywhere I go and use it on both my hubby and my son. This is an essential for anyone and everyone, in my opinion. It also comes in SPF 30 level protection.

SNACK smart - actually, just eat smart in general. Something I like to do is plan ahead of time. I keep fruits and veggies on hand for snacking or enhancing a meal. I will write out my meal schedule for the week. You can do similar things for planning your children's meals as well! As the old saying goes "you are what you eat". Eating healthier will have you looking and feeling your best through the most hectic of times.

DRINK your 8 glasses - when your body is dehydrated, you skin is dehydrated. And trust me, over time that really starts to show! Drink your 8 glasses a day, or more! Replace sodas with water and if you love to drink juice, drink it fresh pressed! No more of that ultra-preserved cranberry juice cocktail, or sugar loaded Grape Juice. Your skin will show the benefits and your body will feel better! And you busy moms know how important it is to feel good on-the-go.

REMOVE your makeup, no excuses – sleeping in your makeup may seem harmless, and it is super easy to say “just this once”, but the truth is its never “just this once”. If you can’t bring yourself to the sink, at least indulge in a makeup removing wipe. I am telling you though, sleeping in your makeup ages your skin, and can easily cause breakouts. I like to make my nighttime cleansing routine a relaxing event for myself. It is something that I genuinely look forward to!
