Multi-Purpose Products: Save Time, Money, and Energy
If you are like me, you get ready every morning with little to no time at all. While I definitely don’t promote applying your skincare and makeup while driving, I do believe in products that can help to save you time, money, and energy! How are we going to do that, you ask? I want to share some of my favorite multi-purpose product picks with you!
Use Your Moisturizer As Eye Cream – So many ladies don’t apply their moisturizer around their eye area. Guess what, you can and you should be doing this. This is not to replace your everyday eye cream, however it is a great way to nourish the eye area and get most out of your moisturizer.
Reach For Clarisonic Opal Eye – Despite it’s namesake, the Opal Eye is also amazing for use on smile lines, and forehead wrinkles. See my Clarisonic Opal Eye video here for an on-hands look at my favorite ways to incorporate this fabulous device into your skin care regimen.
Get The Most Out of Your Makeup Primer – I only use my primer on my entire face for special occasions. For my everyday makeup looks, however, I enjoy applying it around my eye area. Using my primer only around my eye is incredibly beneficial for me, and helps to smooth out and perfect my dry, tired eyes and of course, my new pregnancy mask!
Stick to Serums – If you have oily skin or live in a human climate, allow your serum to double as your moisturizer during your AM application. I like Eminence Organics Cornflower Recovery Serum because it delivers anti-aging results while keeping the skin clear and reducing pore size.
Anti-Aging & Clear Skin – there are a number of skin care ingredients that have multiple benefits, such as delivering anti-aging and anti-acne results
Retinols, retina and glycolics are also ingredients that you can use for multi-purpose, anti-aging and anti-acne benefits. It is important that you do not apply a moisturizer immediately after applying a product with glycolic acid, as the glycolic acid will be cancelled out if you apply any other products on top of it. I am particularly fond of Image Skincare’s Ageless Anti-Aging Serum & Cleanser, and Epicuren’s Glycolic Lotion.
Try a Toning Mist – If your skin is dry or you live in a dry climate, a toning mist may be just what you need! I love Epicuren’s Protein Mist or Brazilian Propolis Mist, and Rhonda Allison’s Cucumber Mist. Your toning mist can be used after you apply your makeup and throughout the day for a refreshing, moisturizing pick-me-up.
Exfoliate and Cleanse – as a skincare professional I have heard all of the excuses in the book as to “why” people are not exfoliating. Something I heard from a lot of working ladies and moms was that they skipped this step because it took too much time. So, how to you achieve gorgeous glowing skin in a pinch? Mix a pea size amount of your scrub in with your cleanser! If you are not on the exfoliating train, I highly recommend jumping on board. Exfoliation helps to rid the skin of dead skin cells and buildup, revealing gorgeous, glowing, smoother skin that will absorb your follow-up skincare products much better.
Get Flawless Coverage, Fast – if there is one thing that ties me up and gets me frustrated, it’s trying to cover a blemish in a pinch. More often than not, it seems that makeup just does not want to cooperate when it comes to covering stubborn breakouts, which is why I have come to love Osmosis Colour’s Age Defying Treatment Concealer. This product gives you a two-in-one punch with a moisturizing stick on one end, and a lush concealer on the other. I swear, even though this is two-step as opposed to one, it minimizes my time spent in front of the mirror because I always get the right amount of coverage on the first try!
Simplify Your Everyday Makeup – I am a firm believer in embracing your natural beauty. I love a full makeup look just as much as the next woman, but I find going natural on a day-to-day basis keeps my skin happy, and my mindset confident. I love sticking to mascara, lip-gloss, and a tinted moisturizer for my everyday look.
I am also so excited to share some of my favorite on-the-go essentials, for those of you who always on the go – heading straight from the carpool to the office, or out running errands all day. Kiss carrying your whole make up kit in your bag and keep it simple with these versatile products, tips, & tricks!
- Try a Cream Blush – I absolutely love cream blush. It is a great way to brighten up my face, and it can also be used on the lips as a soft stain.
- Try a Powdered SPF – mineral SPF brushes have a tint, providing your face with light powder coverage while protecting from harmful UV rays. I find this to be the easiest way to reapply my SPF throughout the day, and it is a wonderful touch-up to my makeup look!
Try a Compact – compacts that contain eye shadow, blush, and bronzer will help you save time opening and closing individual compacts. La Bella Donna’s Vision of Mineral Lights is my absolute go-to. Any of the four-color choices can be used to contour the face, or to shadow the eyes
- Keep it Simple – even on the days where I go full-makeup, I keep my on-hand makeup simple. There is no need to carry each and every item in your makeup bag around. Stick with the three products above, and go out and seize the day with confidence!
