How to Fight Aging!
Have you ever heard the phrase, “Say YES to aging.”…Well, that isn't exactly my style. I’m personally going to do everything I can this side of the knife to look young and fabulous! If you are with me, check out the TOP THREE ways to fight aging!
# 1: Exercise
I can’t emphasize this enough. Excess weight ages a person on the inside and on the outside. One of the best things you can do to look younger is get regular exercise. A toned, in-shape body will make you appear and look young and fit. When you get your blood flowing, it delivers nutrients to your skin and sweat cleanses the body of skin-destroying toxins. Double Bonus! Researchers have also shown regular exercise actually slows down the aging process! The benefits are endless! I almost want to hit the gym right now…almost… I recommend getting 30 minutes of cardio at least every other day. Add in some weight-training to build muscle and burn fat.
# 2: Care for Your Face
There are a zillion things I could say about this. I’ll limit myself to my own TOP 5 Anti-Aging skin care tips:
Number 1: WEAR SUNSCREEN. Every day, by every, I mean every. I never leave home without Epicuren X-Treme Cream SPF ($34). Great coverage and a great holiday gift for that person on your list you don't know what the heck to get for.
Number 2: Use moisturizer in the day and a night cream at night. Image Skincare's Ageless line has a fabulous option:The MAX Creme in the daytime and Total Repair Creme at night powerfully work together to protect, heal, and restore.
Number 3: Use products with Retinol or Alpha Hydroxy. Glo THerapeutics Retinol CS ($50) contains both and offers great results!
Number 4: Use products that fight age spots. (this was voted the number one sign of aging). Image SkinCare Ageless Total Skin Lightening Serum uses natural ingredients like Bearberry, Kojic and Licorice to lighten freckles, melasma and age spots.
Number 5: Get facials. At home peels and in spa microdermebrasion both slough off old, dead skin allowing new cells to show on the surface.
# 3: Eat Well
This goes along with the working out. Healthy and fit people look younger. There just isn’t a shortcut for this. Along with maintaining a healthy weight, nutrition also plays a vital role in keeping skin looking young and in shape. DO EAT plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. DON’T EAT over-processed foods, sugar, and simple carbs. Add variety to your diet to ensure you are getting all your vitamins and minerals. Some anti-aging foods to add in are:
- Red wine (I listed this first for obvious reasons)
- Dark leafy greens
- Blueberries
- Almonds and walnuts
- Red grapes
How’d you stack up? If you’re like me, there are a few things I can do to say “No” to aging;) I think I know what my New Year’s Resolution may look like!
