How The Stars Stay Young & Beautiful
We have all had it wander across our minds at one point or another. A photo of a gorgeous celeb like Halle Berry will pop up and we can't help but wonder how she does it. Some of Hollywood's hottest are looking better in their 30's, 40's, and beyond than they ever have before! And I want to give you the inside scoop as to how these celebrity beauties stay looking young, fresh, and beautiful as time goes on. Are you ready for it?
Gwen Stefani - Can you believe this talented rock-mom is already 43 years old? I know I certainly can't. The No Doubt singer turned-solo artist knows the importance of an effective, dedicated skincare regime, and is a huge fan of Epicuren Discovery products. I hear she likes the Epicuren Protein Mist Enzyme Activated Toner, a mildly exfoliating astringent that helps with regular oil production.
Halle Berry - It is seriously difficult to believe that the beautiful, glowing Halle Berry is 47 years of age! How does she do it? By keeping things LOW KEY on her days off. When Halle isn't working, all she rocks is lip balm and some SPF to give her skin a break and some time to breath. A good skin care routine will allow you to go without makeup and feel fabulous like Halle.
Jennifer Aniston - Jennifer is looking just as amazing, if not more so, as she did back in her Friends days. What is her beauty secret? Along with exercising and getting enough sleep, Jen says eating well is a huge factor when it comes to having ageless skin. She always tries to eat organic, natural foods so that she feels and looks good. Meal plans help you eat well and can enhance your complexion. Veggies can be particularly helpful.
Jennifer Lopez - J.Lo has been dazzling us with her beautiful bronzed glow since her 20's. And at 44 years of age, this pop star turned actress seems to be glowing more than ever. What many people don't know is that J.Lo has saved her skin by staying out of the sun and using bronzers and self-tanners instead. All thanks to her makeup artist of 10 years, Scott Barnes.
Elizabeth Hurley - This 48-year-old model/actress only seems to be getting better with age. Her beauty secret? Staying hydrated. From drinking water to steam sessions to overnight lotions, this chick has it down! Dryness can clog pores and age skin, according to many skincare experts.

I decided to learn the tricks of the trade that celebrity makeup artists use so that I can hide the zit or spot on my face myself. My goal is to improve my skin in the long run, not just find a temporary covering or fix today. Instead of using a syringe to fix our look, let’s use a good skincare line for long-lasting results. As always, one of (if not the best) way to take care of our skin is by using a sunscreen regularly. Here are some of the tricks I have learned that the celebrities use:
For a breakout: If celebs get a breakout, which we all tend to get once in a while, most will undergo a procedure called photodynamic therapy. This extremely expensive procedure (a couple thousand dollars) is one in which an amino acid medication is applied to the face and then a blue light activates it. For people like us, let’s try my version of this treatment. You can use products that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These ingredients will help to clear the skin in a more realistic amount of time. Yes, realistic means longer, but we have to remember that we don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on a breakout. A cortisone shot, for example, can flatten a blemish in thirty-six hours. Try a preventive measure if you fear a breakout coming up by applying Epicuren’s Acne Spot Treatment Gel. You can even use products with sulfur for oily skin to help you thousands while still achieving the same results.
For a dull face: For skin that's lacking a beautiful glow, the stars exfoliate! Old dull skin must be cleaned up before the face can absorb any product. Stars undergo microdermabrasion treatments in which the face is polished with tiny crystals. This helps to remove the dull skin so that products can penetrate the way they're supposed to. I can’t tell you how often people wonder why their product isn’t working, and I recommend exfoliation. A procedure of microdermabrasion, laser toning, and other processes are some of the celebrity tricks, but these are even more expensive than photodynamic therapy! Another option is to go for a facial peel to unclog the pores. One of my favorite products is Epicuren’s Micro-Derm Ultra-Refining Scrub. To finish, papaya chunks mixed with egg whites are a quick mix I make for an effective and fabulous homemade face mask.
For Dryness: Another celebrity routine is Dermal Quench Oxygen Treatment. This procedure moisturizes the skin and makes the face soft. It also makes the lines less visible and is a favorite amongst some stars. For us, we can try steaming. Steaming helps to open up the pores and get rid of impurities. It's very simple to get a fresh and soft face. Try a honey and oatmeal mask to moisturize your skin. Apply for about fifteen minutes and then wipe it off, and you should be good to go.
For a damaged look: The environment can do much damage to the face. Pollution, dust, dirt, and soot play a role in damaging your skin. Stars use antioxidants, which target the free radicals that cause signs of aging. Vitamins like A, E and C are beneficial. There are many products that use these vitamins for antioxidant effects. My favorite product is Image Skincare’s infamous A, C & E Serum. It works awesome and gives me a glow just like the stars! Using Image's Hydrating Intense Moisturizer is also essential.
