We all have that one person we look to for inspiration. They seem to always look fashionable, flawless, well groomed, and have glowing skin no matter what day of the week, which of course leads to some level of envy. I have spoken with a number of glowing-skinned beauties about their beauty regimens so you can step into her shoes and live with the same beautiful skin you have been envying.
Tip 1 – She Has Found Her Skin Care Routine & Sticks With It: whether it’s a kit, a few simple products, or a major, multi-product routine, she has taken the time to research products, go through trial-and-error, and find what works best for her skin! If you aren’t seeing the results you want, move onto the next. If what you have is working for you, stick to it! As the age-old saying goes: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!Tip 2 – She Wears Sunscreen EVERY Day & Knows when to REAPPLY it: she knows the importance of protecting her skin, which is one of the most important steps to take in the fight against aging. Whether she’s going to the office or spending the day at the beach, she always applies sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and always reapplies every 2 hours. Sunscreen helps to protect the skin from scarring, wrinkling, age spots, skin cancer, and more, which are all things that nobody wants to see. It may be one extra step in your morning routine, but trust me when I say it will be so worth it in the long run!Tip 3 – She Knows Her Perfect Lipstick Shade: Finding the perfect shade of lipstick for your skin can take your look to a whole new level! The perfect color will enhance your natural coloring, making your eyes sparkle and giving your face a healthy glow.Tip 4 – She Exercises Regularly: Yes, we all plan on working out, but sometimes sitting on the couch just sounds so much better! Well, the girl you envy spent good money on those yoga classes and her gym membership, and she isn’t letting them go to waste. Working out will make you look and feel amazing, and the benefits it has on your skin and your overall health will be an extra-added bonus.
Tip 5 – She Perfects Her Manicure: Chipped nails are not an option. Whether she makes regular trips to the nail salon, or does her nails herself, she always has her nail game consistent. This can be as bold as a deep red polish, or as simple as chic, polish-less, moisturized nails! Treating your nails delicately and reapplying a clear coat every few days can give you a beautiful natural look, or can help to extend the wear of your polish.Tip 6 – She Gets Monthly Facials: She knows the importance of seeing a professional to clean her skin and help her relax. She does not pick at her skin or try impulsive at-home treatments; she leaves it up to the professionals. Even with all of the amazing innovations on the market today, it is so important to see your esthetician as often as your budget and schedule will allow. All of the homecare products in the world cannot replace the valuable products, devices, and knowledge of your esthetician, who can help you achieve your best, most beautiful skin.Tip 7 – She Has a Signature Scent: She finds a scent that makes her feel confident, and she rocks it whenever she sees fit. Having a signature scent really can help to boost your confidence, and you can adopt different scents for different moods. Some people wear scents better than others, like my best friend Naomi. She wore the same perfume all throughout high school and everywhere she and I would go people would comment with things like "ooh what is that lovely scent?" My experience, on the other hand, was always different. I would lean forward in hopes that I had found the right perfume as well, and they would always say no. It has became our inside joke, as well as Naomi holding the door for me at times saying "age before beauty," as I am 4 months her elder!Tip 8 – She Cares For Her Hair: She keeps her hair care routine simple, but she maintains it very well! If she does become too busy to get her roots touched up, she finds a way to rock it with confidence. She avoids split ends with regular trims, and uses oil to treat her hair with nourishing ingredients. Adopting simple rituals into your hair care routine can have a huge impact on your hair health. Another great tip is to use heat-protecting products anytime you blow dry, curl, or straighten you hair in an effort to keep it healthy, shiny, and fresh.Tip 9 – She Washes Her Face TWICE Every Night: Sleeping with sunscreen, makeup, and all the dirt and oil that accumulates on your face throughout the day makes it very difficult for your skin, and creates buildup that is likely to cause your skin to breakout. Remember, your skin regenerates while you sleep, so it is important to allow it to be clean and breath. Cleanse your face twice at night to ensure you are thoroughly cleansing and removing dirt and makeup. I am a stickler about this one!Tip 10 – One of My Favorites, She Understands the Importance of Sleep: A healthy sleep regimen does wonders for your skin and overall health. When you sleep, your skin goes into recovery mode, allowing you to wake up with fresher, fuller, clearer, and smoother skin in the AM. There is not a single beauty or makeup product that can replace a good nights sleep, which is why it is important to get your 8 hours whenever possible! I love a full, good nights sleep and adore naps. Just ask my high school Spanish teacher, te-hee!
