Keeping Your Skin Fresh

Know Your Skin Type - It is always important to know your skin type . But during the summer months many people experience a shift in their skin, and if you have combo skin like me that shift is not always a good one. Oily skin tends to get oilier. And while those with dry skin usually glow beautifully throughout summer, some do experience extra dryness despite the humidity. Be sure to grab products designed for your skin type to avoid any excess oils, which can cause breakouts.

To Layer Or Not To Layer - If you are like my, you enjoy a variety of product. And some of use have skincare regimens are come in steps. For instance, I like to use my toner, serum, moisturizer, and eye cream, and of course I can't forget the SPF! It is important to know what kind of day you have ahead of you when choosing how to go about things. For a day in the office I do recommend layering your product from thinnest formulation to thickest - leaving the sunscreen for last. This should give you adequate protection for the day, and of course if you choose to go out after work you can always layer on a little more SPF. For beach or pool days I usually opt to skip the rest and apply my sunscreen immediately following my cleanser. Pair your favorite sunscreen with Osmosis UV Protection Harmonized Water for added protection, and always have on-hand SPF to reapply. I am personally a huge fan of Eminence Organics Sun Defense Minerals.

Embracing A Dewy Finish - Lets face it, a dewy finish is gorgeous but it walks a really fine line between on-purpose and oily. So it is important to keep an eye on your skin throughout the day. I love the dewy look myself, which can be easily achieved with most tinted moisturizers. Just be sure to keep oil-blotting papers on hand to take your dewy look from day to night!

Schedule Your Cleanser - I know that in the heat of summer it may be tempting to cleanse your face many times throughout the day. Nobody enjoys feeling oily, or sweaty. But I am going to encourage you to keep cleansing to AM and PM whenever possible! Overly cleansing can dry out your skin, which cause your body to produce excess oils in response.

Way To Glow - I have said it many times before and I will say it again, don't get your tan from the sun. It is 2013, people! Oopma Loompa orange is a thing of the past. As long as you choose the right products CLICK HERE to view some of my favorites> you can achieve that beach bound glow without exposing your skin to the sun.

Exfoliate - This one is absolutely essential year-round, but especially in the summer. First, its the season of shorts and bikinis, which means you will be showing more skin. Exfoliation sloughs away dirt, debris, and dead skin cell to immediately reveal more radiant skin. And it will also help your skin look better in the long haul. Other benefits? Your self-tanner will be more even and last longer, and your skincare products such as moisturizers and SPF will absorb better! This is a definite must.

Be Confident - Nothing makes you look better than feeling comfortable in your own skin!

XOXO
