Lindsay’s exuberant style is embodied in every product she offers. Her ardent style and energy is the driving force behind SwitchFlops - her innovative high school project that has catapulted Lindsay into success today. Derived from her art project, the ceramic flip flop, came the idea of Switch Flops. She realized that she could use “hook-and-loop” fasteners to create interchangeable straps and details for her shoes. Patenting her design before she graduated high school, she continued to perfect her idea when she reached college. Lindsay attained her inspiration from her trip around the world on the Semester at Sea. Lindsay’s designs for her beautiful soles and straps come from her travels around the globe - every rich color, fabric and pattern is pulled from her exotic, worldly globe trotting.

SwitchFlops

With her namesake company in bloom, Lindsay was able to hone in on her design and skills while working summers at Ralph Lauren’s Polo leather goods department in New York City. SwitchFlops was created after Lindsay’s patent was granted in 2004 and she paired with her mother, Liz. They made their retail debut at the Surf Expo Trade Show in Orlando, showing 10 straps in basic styles and colors. Her main goal was to create a product that people got excited about. Her idea and products caught on because it was so versatile and easy to use!

Lindsay Phillips: Present Day

Today, Lindsay Phillips has blossomed from the 10 basic styles she started with. Now offering an array of sandal styles, she also offers ballet flats, accessories like scarves and hand bags. And even offers a shoe line for the kids! Her idea was something so simple and it’s no wonder it caught on like wild fire. Her products give her customers a great sense of individuality and style without being constricted to just a few options. With an array of interchangeable straps and snaps for her sandals and flats, women are no longer conflicted with having to choose between styles. You can truly have it all!
