Get Frosty with YoungBlood

Diana Agron goes subtle frosty

For whatever reason, women seem more confident working with golds, mauves and browns when it comes to putting together an eyeshadow look. While this is a beautiful go-to for most days, don’t miss out on your opportunity to don flashy blues, iridescent whites and stunning silvers! Here’s my guide to getting the frosty look right!

Tools You'll Need

YoungBlood Mineral Shadow

White Shadow- Your white shadow will serve as a highlighter and aid in the contouring of the look. As with any shadows, the formula you choose is dependent on the look you are going for and the type you enjoy working with. La Bella Donna and Young Blood have everything from pressed shadows to mineral powders. If white is too harsh for your skintone, a pale pink will work well, too. I like YoungBlood's Moonstone ($20)

YoungBlood La Bella Donna Mineral Shadow

Blue or Silver- Next you'll want to choose your darker color. I would suggest going for a light version of blue or silver to achieve the frosty look. La Bella Donna's Compressed in Mineral Blue ($20) or YoungBlood's Platinum are a good place to start.

Eye Glitter with YoungBlood

- Ehhh..I struggled with whether or not to include this one because glitter goes bad real quick. The line between on trend and prom circa 1999 is very small, so use with caution. It's hot right now when worn in the right way. Things to consider- age, time of day and setting. Basically, if your daughter is wearing it, re-think. If it's a day time bbq..don't try. Bachlorette party in Vegas? Sure!

YoungBlood YoungBlood Eyeshadow Brush

Eye Shadow Brush- With any look, blending is the key to getting it right. Investing in a good shadow brush is always worth your money and time. I love YoungBlood's Eyeshadow Brush ($19) My makeup bag is never without it.

Application

Hinting at it: The most subtle way to get frosty is sweeping blue or grey across your crease. The look will make eyes pop and wake your whole face up. A second subtle option is to take your white shadow and apply a dot in the corner of your eyes next to the bridge of your nose, across lash line and a little below the brow bone. This is a classic highlighting technique and looks beautiful on any woman at any time.

YoungBlood Katy Perry Goes All the Way in Blue

Going for it: For a bolder look, sweep your blue or grey across only the lid. Start at the crease and bring the color to your lash line. Blend like crazy.

ALL THE WAY: Sweep your blue or grey over your entire lid. Take your white shadow and apply it to you inner corner, below the brow line and along the bottom lash. Blend like crazy!

Then if you really want to sparkle, add a dab of eye glitter with your finger following along wherever you placed the darker shadow.

As with any bold make up move (your red lip, your smokey eye) keeping the rest clean and low key is ESSENTIAL. I recommend adding mascara, foundation, a light nude blush and a nude lip while wearing frosty shadow. If it’s a nighttime affair, a pink lip will work perfectly!
