Fabulous Foods For Gorgeous Skin

As the age old saying goes, "you are what you eat," and some of what you eat can actually be really great when used directly on your skin. Today I want to share some fabulous foods that will give you beautiful looking skin in just a matter of days. Are you ready for some DIY home skin care?

Gorgeous Treats

  • Papaya - I absolutely love papaya! And with good reason, it is packed with enzymes and nutrients. The same enzymes that are great for your digestive tract are also wonderful for your skin. Simply blend up some papaya, smooth it onto clean skin, and allow it to do it's work for 10 minutes. Rinse off and enjoy fresher looking, more moisturized skin.
  • Epsom Salt - Epsom salt has so many uses, and getting your circulation flowing is only one of them. I've also heard that it helps to detox the body, though I cannot speak for that myself. Adding some Epsom Salt to your bath is a great way to get your blood flowing . I always recommend hydrating yourself thoroughly before taking an Epsom Salt bath, as the salt can be dehydrating.
  • Milk - This common beverage is wonderful for your skin, as the lactic acid in it helps to mildly exfoliate and brighten the skin. I recommend using a mixture of 1/2 milk, 1/2 water as an AM cleanser. Be sure to rinse off thoroughly after use.
  • Honey & Olive Oil - These two are amongst my absolute favorite ingredients, and you will often find them in the organic skincare world. Mix these two nourishing ingredients together for a hand moisturizer that is beyond compare. I've heard of people mixing in brown sugar as well to create an ultra-hydrating hand scrub as well.
  • Cold Water - If cellulite is your nemesis try spraying cold water on your troubled areas post-shower. For best results, adopt this into your daily practice. I have heard of people using it a few days a week and seeing a real difference.
  • Cucumber Slices - It may seem cliche, but it actually works! Placing cucumber slices over the eyes for 15 minutes helps to brighten and de-puff. Why? Because cucumbers are a great source of beta-carotene, a fabulous antioxidant.
  • Tea Bags - another great way to kiss puffed up, tired looking eyes goodbye is by using cold tea bags on the eyes. I like using green tea, as it is packed with antioxidants and nutrients. Be sure to use a caffeinated tea for best results, as this is what helps to energize the eyes.
  • Baking Soda - If you are looking for more overall brightening benefits, try adding a teaspoon of baking soda to your cleanser. Be sure to rinse thoroughly. Baking soda is known for its brightening properties.
  • Lemon - I absolute LOVE lemon, because it's benefits are endless. From acne, to anti-aging, to brightening and more. However, everyone will tolerate this acidic ingredient differently, so I do recommend doing some research into finding the right concoction for your skin. Pinterest is ablaze with lemon-infused skincare recipes.
